Alexander Zlatoustov, Head coach

Greetings from the Alexander Ostrovsky Academy!

We hope that the weekend gave you more positive emotions and drive than rainy days!

Anastasia Potapova lost at the WTA International Tashkent Open finals (with a prize fund of $ 250,000) to Margarita Gasparyan - 2/6, 1/6. But the second single final at the WTA International tournaments is also a great achievement for the 17th y.o tennis player who is competing with professionals only for the second year. And we believe that the first victory at the WTA Tournament of the leading student of the Academy will be soon. Good luck, Anastasia!

However, one significant event in the professional career of Anastasia Potapova has already come true: Nastya broke into the TOP-100 of the WTA Rankings (version of 10/01/2018) by performance in Uzbekistan, she‘s became the №93 WTA Rankings. In the Porsche Race Singles she is on the 86th rank.
The team of Anastasia Postposa has decided not to go to the WTA International Upper Austria Ladies Linz for an objective reason.

"During the tournament in Uzbekistan I told Irina Doronina (personal coach) that if I get to the final here, you will most likely have to withdraw. I decided not to go to the tournament in Linz for my recovery and health. After such a performance in Tashkent, it’s necessary to relax a little. Moreover, in Linz, I would also have to start with qualifications", - Nastya noted in an exclusive interview with the Academy’s media office.
